On 13th November 2013 at 5.15 pm, John Pass Jewellers in Crewe was the subject of a smash a grab. The incident occurred as the security guard was lowering the shutter on the front window of the showroom.
Two men targeted the Nantwich Road jewellers at around 5.15pm and managed to grab a number of items from the window display before fleeing on foot in the direction of Westminster Street.
The two men were dressed in black, and used scarves to conceal their identity. One of the offender used a sledgehammer to smash through the front window, as the other helped goods into a bag, whilst holding up the main shutter. The whole event lasted around 40 seconds.
Police say they are “actively pursuing a number of lines of enquiry” and are now appealing for witnesses to come forward.
The shop was in the process of closing at the time of the smash and grab. Thankfully no-one was injured.
Detective Sergeant Glyn Leech said: “The area around the store was very busy at the time, given the fact it was the evening rush hour Nantwich Road was congested with traffic, and a number of pedestrians were out and about.
“Both the men involved in this crime are described as white men, aged between 20-30 years of age and dressed in dark clothing.
“We have a number of lines of enquiry that we are actively pursuing and appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time, or driving past who witnessed the incident take place or indeed the men fleeing the scene, to contact Crewe CID on 101 quoting incident number 610.”
